Google’s latest Android 12 update has a lot to offer, but arguably one of the best features is what they’re calling Material You. And even though only a few Pixel phones have Android 12 so far, now you can dress up your old phone as a new Pixel with the Lawnchair 12 launcher.

This new version of Android can automatically change your phone’s entire look and feel based on your wallpaper image and allows for more customization options than ever before. The icons, settings menu, pulldown bar, and even widgets will pull colors from the background image and integrate them into the software.

Plus, Android 12 delivers other fun new features, including QuickSwitch support. Luckily those with older devices can get all those same fancy Android 12 features by installing a new 3rd party launcher. We’re talking about Lawnchair Launcher v12.

The app drawer, widget picker, folders, and pop-ups have been redesigned to match the Material You design. Basically, it makes your phone look and feel like it’s on Android 12 ahead of time.

It’s worth noting that most of this works for phones running Android 8 or newer. However, to get QuickSwitch support, you’ll need an Android 11 device, and in some instances, widgets won’t match the color palette unless the phone runs Android 12. The team behind the app even offers something called Lawnfeed, which returns the Google Feed to your home screen.

Additionally, the update adds new controls for the Home Screen grid, improved accent color selections, and an experimental new Font setting.

So while the Lawnchair v12 app is somewhat limited right now, as the developer team updates the app, not to mention more phones receive updates to Android 12 soon, it’ll be an excellent option for those looking to customize their device.
